Nathan was sick with a cold the last two days so stayed home from school. While looking out the front window he called me over to see a "wierd" bird. We looked it up and it was a common Flicker, a ground feeding woodpecker. It did stay on the ground for quite a while (even though there was a couple of inches of snow) so we had a really good opportunity to watch it. The early spring brings many birds to our yard that we don't ordinarily see.
